The one million beer mats have finally arrived and are winging their way to pubs up and down the country.
We have been overwhelmed by the support shown for our Save Your Pint Campaign calling for the Beer Tax Escalator to be scrapped at Budget 2013.
The sheer number of orders placed for posters and beer mats to take down the local and spread theword about the e-petition has even meant recruiting extra manpower to stop us drowning in mats!
A big thank you to our first-rate CAMRA members who are putting the leg work in to litter pubs with the material and if anyone knows the whereabouts of George Osborne’s watering hole I’d love to have his face plastered to the walls of that joint?
We’ve had great feedback on our campaigning material and as expected the odd criticism bandied about.
Our aim was to create an eye catching fun campaign without making light of the seriousness of beer tax crippling our pubs.
We hope the caricatured nature of Osborne’s over sized head is reflective of this and will do the job. He’s the man to target and with all the back-peddling and mess over this year’s Budget I have no qualms about promoting him in a midly farcical fashion – wait until you see our web banner.
The race is on to reach 100,000 signatures to trigger a high profile Parliamentary debate.
I cannot stress enough that this is not an easy target – that’s the point, only the causes with the strongest most wide spread support will Government dedicate their time to.
We’ve had some comments wondering what the big deal is, we’ve got {MEMBERNUMBER} members, why don’t they just all sign it – well yes, quite – please all sign it and we would be sorted, but unfortunately we can’t physically force everyone to log on and fill out the form merely encourage…
By promoting this campaign you are helping to protect our pubs. If you would like to place an order for more material please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Please also let me know if there is any other way you can support the campaign.
Get in touch at claire.cain@camra.org.uk - We would also love to see our campaign in action so please send me photos of your events and pubs spreading the word about the epetition and we will publish them on our site.
