• Campaigns Team build support for e-petition at Cambridge Beer Festival

Posted on May 25, 2012 by in News

This week CAMRA’s campaigns team have been taking to the queues at the Cambridge beer festival to spread the word about the beer tax e-petition.

Having almost reached the crucial halfway point of 50,000 signatures, we have been making the most of the amazing weather to highlight the impact of crippling increases in beer tax to thirsty festival goers.  The weather has brought out the crowds eager to sample some of the festival’s hundreds of beers and ciders – and they were rightly shocked to hear that £1 of their festival pints went straight to the Chancellor.  Barely a punter made it through the gate without being asked if they’d signed the petition already and signing up on the spot if not.

So far over 1000 petition postcards have been filled in at the festival.  If yours was one of them, please don’t forget to check your emails next week for the confirmation link!

The team is there again today so watch out for them if you’re heading to the festival and above all please remember to sign the petition

If you’re involved in running a beer festival and would like to order petition postcards to build support for the e-petition, please get in touch with CAMRA’s Campaigns Officer Claire Cain.
